After months of passing by the long lines that formed outside Dominique Ansel’s bakery for the much anticipated cronut, I finally broke down and waited for the October fall flavor, Caramelized Apple Crème Fraiche.
I was half expecting to be standing in line all morning, so it was a nice surprise when we found ourselves entering the bakery after only an hour and a half. We each ordered two cronuts, the maximum amount per person, which were presented to us in gold tote boxes – only the best for the cronut.
The cronut was just as delicious as I imagined and to anyone considering braving the line, it is definitely worth it. The pastry layers are piped with caramelized-apple compote that’s been folded into a crème fraiche ganache. The cronut is rolled in vanilla-cinnamon sugar and decorated with a dried apple chip.
So many cronuts, ahhh!!!!
